Advice That New Bloggers Shouldn’t Ignore

December 2, 2015 By Erik Emanuelli 26 Comments

Have you always dreamed of being a successful blogger? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that all it takes for blogging success is high-quality blog site and unique content.

There’s a lot more to becoming a successful blogger than that.

Sadly, many new bloggers fail to realize this and spend their time focusing on just these two areas. And then they wonder why their site isn’t getting more traffic, and why their brand isn’t growing.

If you want your blog to become a profitable business, you need to treat it like one. It’s not just a case of uploading fresh content each day; there are so many factors that go into running a blog.

To help you ensure that your new blog is a success, we have put together some advice for you. If you want your blog to grow into a profitable business, take note of these incredibly useful tips.

Pick The Perfect Niche

The key to success as a blogger is choosing the right niche. If you want your site to become a popular resource for advice, you need to choose something that you know a lot about.

But also a topic that there aren’t already thousands of bloggers for, as otherwise, your chances of success are much lower.

When it comes to picking a niche, make sure to choose something that interests you. You topic of choice should also be interesting and unique, if you want to be successful, that is.

Get Your Site Right

One of the most crucial things when it comes to blogging success is a well-designed site. Many bloggers opt for Blogspot or WordPress sites and design their blog themselves.

However, unless you’re a design whizz, leave the design of your blog down to a professional web designer. It’s crucial that you make a blog that’s not only chic and well designed, but also responsive and easy to navigate.

If your blog isn’t responsive, it won’t work properly on devices, like smartphones. You need a site that’s responsive, so that it can be read on the go, using mobile technology.

As for being easy to navigate, if it’s hard to use, people won’t bother reading your content. That’s why it’s important that the layout is clear and the site easy to get around.

Build Relationships With Bloggers

Many bloggers make the mistake of only focusing on building relationships with brands, not other bloggers. Don’t see other bloggers in your niche as competitors, see them as friends.

You don’t have to work against each other, work together, and you’ll find that you are much more successful. You can piggyback off each other’s success, share readers and work on projects together.

One of the best resources for meeting and getting to know other bloggers is Twitter – it’s fantastic.

Once you have a few blogger friends, share and like their tweets, share their blog posts, and help them out when they’re stuck, and they’ll do the same.

Communicate With Your Readers

Received a comment from a reader – don’t ignore it, reply to them. Sparking up conversations with people who comment on your blog is a fantastic way to build relationships.

You can also use comments to see whether people like your content, as well as to note what isn’t so popular. Ask your readers what they want from you.

Is there a certain post they would love to see or an idea they’d like to share?

To boost the number of comments you are getting on your posts, and to make communicating easier, end each post with a question. For instance something like, “What do you think?” or “Do you agree with this?”, would be ideal.

Popping a question at the end of each post, should help to boost the number of comments you are getting.

Your Posts and Titles

Be choosy about your titles, they will make or break your blog. When it comes to whether a post gets many views, it’s often down to the title.

As any successful blogger will tell you, the key is to include click-sexy headlines. Click-sexy headlines means titles that are eye catching and intriguing.

Many bloggers suggest using numbers in titles, as this helps to make them more compelling. It’s also a good idea to add adjectives to your titles, as words like ‘simple’ and ‘amazing’ appeal to readers.

Adding adjectives to posts help to make them more interesting, and make readers want to read on.

For blogging success, take note of these tips.

Follow the advice in this guide, and you can ensure that your blog is a success.

What do you think?

Any other tips to add?

Please leave your views in the comments below, thanks!

Picking the right niche is so crucial, and it’s something that often triggers many trials and errors.

Not only should you choose something that interests you, but the niche also needs to be profitable. Finding that perfect balance between passion and profits is where many new bloggers fail.

And then, of course, there’s also blog abandonment. As you already know, Erik, persistence is key!

    Take care my friend 🙂

      That’s right, Elvis.

Blogging seems so easy, but there’s a big difference in doing it as a hobby and building a profitable business.
Like you said, it’s a trial and error path.

I wish I had a mentor teaching me the basics when I started back 5 years ago.
It would have saved me a lot of time and efforts!

Thanks for visiting and commenting, have a good rest of this week. 🙂

You know what, today’s days competition is high, 8 out of 10 everyone having interest to start a blog and it is so easy! But main point is how long will you maintain and stick to your goal. I have seen many blogger you have started like a rocket but crashed somewhere in the middle. Secondly many bloggers start blogging only for making money. But this shouldn’t be the only reason.

      Hey Ikechi,
      good to see you. 🙂

Choosing a niche is the most critical aspect of opening a blog.
When I started creating niche sites, I remember to have worked on specific keywords, which were actually not profitable.
I guess this is why I was able to rank within the TOP 10 of Google within 3 months.
I make just a few dollars a month from that site, but I learned a lesson!

Thanks for visiting, have a good day, my friend.

great, tnx sir, I needed something like this. As I started my new blog, I sure will try to adhere to the points you showed above.

One thing I’ve seen is reaching out to people helps in the short run as well as in the long run.

And you talked about site designing, right?

I’d just say, I don’t have the state of hiring a designer, but tweaking a nicely designed free theme doesn’t hurt, right?

Of course, unless you have a amateur design and color sense.

I learned from sir Fabrizion that perfection doesn’t come suddenly, it comes bit by bit. Same with blog designs. I’m happy with that thing.

And one more thing I’d like to add is, never go hard on yourself to write top notch articles. You are who you are, you can’t change it. At some point, you’ll realize that writing your own experiences would feel much better. Not always, cause sometimes you have provide serious value to the readers. But it’s better to write blogs with the passion, not fashion.

And I believe all people are unique in their own way. Of course, I think I’m moralizing a bit too much. But that’s my latest comprehension.

Nice to be on your site, sir. I’m a big fan.

    Keep well.

    Hey Erik!

It’s amazing how many opportunities have come my way since I’ve put myself out there and started connecting with other bloggers. Guest posts, interviews, business opportunities… the list goes on and on.

I tried to go at it on my own for a while, and it was a lonely, miserable road. Networking has allowed me to leverage the hard work others have put into building their own audiences, and let me bring a slice of that back to my site. It’s so, so powerful.

This was the big point for me, so I just had to comment on it. Great list here!

      Hi James,
it’s a pleasure to see you here.

I did the same when I started blogging.
I thought that I would be good enough to reach success by myself.
That’s so far away from reality!

Luckily, I learned the lesson just 3 months later and I started connecting with people online.
      That’s really, really important.

Thanks for sharing your experience, James.
      Have a great friday.

    Hi Erik,

I too thought blogging is just creating content and promoting it, later I realised the importance of the relationship with fellow bloggers, I do agree blog titles are very important to attract the visitor to our blog post.

Initial days of my blogging career I was reluctant to spend money on web design but now I am investing money to make my blog look more professional, all the above points you discussed in this post are very important for every blogger, thanks a lot for sharing information, see you soon with another article.

Picking the right link is very crucial. As mentioned by you, befriend with blogger instead of considering them as your competitors.

Unfortunately, newbie blogger also gets roadblock when he runs of out ideas and inspiration. Therefore, it is also necessary to keep yourself motivated always to get best of yourself.
